Frequently Asked Questions

How much bandwidth does my business need?

This is never an easy question to answer. Not all providers are created equal, so comparing what you’re using today to a new offering won’t always be accurate, and trying to calculate your exact needs will leave your head spinning. However, there are some general guidelines that can help you make an informed decision. If you are likely to have multiple people videoconferencing simultaneously, sending large files frequently, or experiencing spikes in bandwidth usage throughout the day, you may want to consider the larger connection speed. Conversely, if you are using the connection for occasional web browsing, e-mail or social media, you may want to consider the lower speed option. Upgrading your connection speed is a phone call away should your needs change. Dash Fiber Internet is optimized for small business, so if you are an enterprise with dozens of employees (or more) that need access to the Internet then Dash Fiber Internet is not the right option for you.

How fast is 1-2 Gigabit internet?

a. 1 Gigabit is a broadband internet connection that can reach data transfer rates of 1,000 megabits per second (1 Gbps). With that rate of speed, you can download a full HD movie in just a few minutes, update your smartphone’s operating system in seconds, or join videoconferences with ultra-high definition video.

b. 2 Gigabit is a broadband internet connection that can reach data transfer rates of 2,000 megabits per second (2 Gbps). With that rate of speed, you can have multiple devices simultaneously connected to the internet and actively stream or download content all at once. A high-bandwidth connection ensures that each device gets enough bandwidth for its individual usage.

What does it mean to have symmetrical internet connection?

A symmetrical internet connection means that the data speed and file transfer rate is the same in both directions. Most providers advertise a fast “download” speed but offer a much slower upload. In a business environment, this can be challenging if you’re sending large files or conducting simultaneous online meetings.

Is fiber better than cable internet?

a. Transmitted with flashes of light through strands of glass, fiber-optic internet is the most advanced broadband technology available. Because data can travel faster across greater distances with glass than with cable, the connection speed is much faster with a 100% fiber-optic network.

b. Fiber-optic services offer better quality. Most notably, fiber is faster.
Dash Internet offers symmetrical upload and download speeds, which means you can upload information to the internet just as fast as you can download it. Cable internet providers do not offer this ability and If you’re constantly uploading information and data (like video conferencing for work), this structure could save you a lot of time.

Why is your service not available to me?

Dash can only provide services where our fiber is currently installed. However, we are always expanding so if you check your availability and provide your information, we will notify you when services in your area are available.

What is a Business VoIP Telephone Line?

VoIP is a technology that allows you to make voice calls using a broadband Internet connection instead of a regular (or analog) phone line.

Can I port my phone number to your Business VoIP Telephone service?

Yes, Dash supports number porting and requires the authorized user on the account to agree during the order process.

Can I add more than 1 business VoIP phone line?

Dash supports up to 4 Business VoIP Telephone lines per account

Will you extend wiring in my office?

Should it be necessary, Dash can be contracted to extend wiring in your office. However, restrictions and additional fees may apply.

Do you provide a router/Wi-Fi?

Yes, your Dash Internet Service comes with an internet router with built-in WiFi.

What can I expect for during installation?

If you are the first tenant in your building to order service, it could be 30-90 days before Dash Fiber Internet is able to complete your order. Although we know this is not ideal for many customers, it does take time to install and test the equipment to ensure a quality connection is made. After you receive an initial order confirmation from Dash, our service delivery team will reach out with expected installation dates and timeframes.
